Yes, you read that right, a remix of Will Smith. Sometimes when programming a track that I don’t have any vocal part for, I’ll throw an acapella over it to get an idea for pacing and timing in the arrangement. In this case, I had Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It laying around. I originally composed this track mostly from samples I recorded on The Atomica Project tour (special thanks to Corey McCafferty for his impromptu beat-boxing, and the Cheathams for their hospitality). Because of that, I was hoping to get J*Star, who we met in Cleveland, to rap over it. Once I had a demo instrumental, I passed it along to him, but he couldn’t do anything with it, and neither could anyone else I passed it to. I’m not too suprised; the track jumps all over from 7/8 to 4/4 and things like that. So rather than collecting digital dust, I’m backpedaling to a Will Smith remix.

Excellent…..but where’s the “na na na na n na na na”? Anyway, I was picturing Will Smith in one of his serious film roles. This music would kick in somewhere in the middle to end of the movie when he gets pissed and takes action. Your track has a totally different feel from what gets radio play. I like the wind chimes. It reminds me of summertime, which, since you also use the chimes as an outro, you could possibly some day lead it into a remix of Jazzy Jeff/Fresh Prince’s “Summertime”. Serious “Summertime” though.
